Tennant Creek Show Day
Friday, July 10, 2026
The Tennant Creek Show public holiday in the Northern Territory during the dry season on the second Friday each July. It is a holiday for the documented region around Tennant Creek. In 2026, the Tennant Creek Show Day falls on Friday 10 July. The holiday will be on Friday 9 July in 2027. When the show comes to town, the bush folk roll in and join with the town folk for this once-a-year event that showcases some of the agriculture of this region of the Northern Territory. Aside from the cattle yards, crafts and competitions, there’s a chance for locals and tourists of all ages to have fun on rides, eat some great food and pick up some show bags. Tennant Creek is about six hours drive north of Alice Springs and is the centre for approximately 3,000 people largely employed in the pastoral and mining industries. Tennant Creek is on the Ghan train line and the train stops twice a week (on request) bringing more visitors to town to take in this true piece of the heart of Australia at one of it’s busiest and most festive times of the year.
