The holiday will be on Sunday 1 August in 2027. Unlike other areas of the world, DR Congo does not celebrate Mothers or Fathers Day, but instead celebrates one holiday for both parents. On Parents’ Day, Children often provide parents with handmade cards and families celebrate with a meal. In some cases, parents may receive handmade gifts as well. Because the culture of DR Congo focuses on the entire family, Parents Day is not just a day to revere parents, but grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members who guide children as they grow into adults. In the morning, Congolese citizens remember relatives who have passed away who guided them as they grew into adulthood. In some areas, families visit cemeteries early in the morning to clean and decorate graves of those who have passed.
