History
Founded in 2006 by Colleen Paige (also behind National Dog Day) to celebrate puppies and encourage adoption from shelters and rescues rather than pet stores or irresponsible breeders.
How It's Celebrated
If you're ready, adopt a puppy or dog from a shelter or rescue. Share cute (ethical) puppy photos, support no-kill shelters and anti-puppy-mill legislation, learn about proper socialization and training, or simply spend time playing with puppies you know.
