days to go

Dr Ambedkar Jayanti celebrates the birthday of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, an Indian politician and social rights activist. In 2027, Dr Ambedkar Jayanti falls on Wednesday 14 April. The holiday will be on Friday 14 April in 2028. Ambedkar Jayanti is an important day for Indian officials and citizens. The holiday is celebrated on April 14 each year. Ambedkar Jayanti is oriented around happiness and reflection. Ambedkar Jayanti is a public holiday that allows the Indian people to reflect on the social progress of India. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was an Indian politician and economist who played a fundamental role in the creation of India’s constitution. As a proponent for widespread human rights in India, Ambedkar sought to eliminate India’s caste system. Ambedkar had close ties to the London School of Economics. Ambedkar eventually became the first law minister of India. Ambedkar was the son of an officer in the Indian Army. Despite his father’s ranked status as an officer, Ambedkar and his family belonged to the lowest caste in India. Ambedkar was considered to be an Untouchable. As an Untouchable, Ambedkar faced a great deal of discrimination during his childhood years. Despite being seriously disadvantaged, Ambedkar studied very hard while he was in school. Ambedkar’s hard work caused him to score very highly on the high school entrance examinations. Untouchables rarely get the opportunity to study at the high school level, so this was a very important moment in Ambedkar’s life. The community of Untouchables where Ambedkar lived celebrated his success and honoured him with gifts and kind words. This was just the beginning of Ambedkar’s growing fame. After graduating high school, Ambedkar moved on to Columbia University. Ambedkar soon graduated from this prestigious university and studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The London School of Economics and Political Science is where Ambedkar formulated many of his ideas related to social equality in India. After leaving London, Ambedkar returned to India to pursue a career and start a family. Ambedkar pursued many ventures after completing his formal education. While Ambedkar experienced moderate success at the beginning of all of these ventures, he ultimately failed when his clients refused to work with him due to his status as an Untouchable. After experiencing discrimination and hardship as a child, these economic troubles were the last straw. Ambedkar decided to enter the Indian political system to change the problems that plagued so many impoverished people. As a politician, Ambedkar spearheaded many campaigns that aimed to protect Untouchables and religious minorities throughout India. Ambedkar also led protests and spoke about the importance of Untouchables pursuing education to climb out of their miserable social conditions. By the time Ambedkar died, he had helped make India a more tolerable place for Untouchables and minorities.
